Porcelain veneers are recommended for individuals with:
- chipped, crooked or misshapen teeth
- uneven or unwanted spaces between the teeth
- severely stained teeth
- too small or too large teeth
A veneer is a thin piece of durable tooth-shaped porcelain attached and bonded to the front part of the tooth. This procedure is actually ideal for treating a lot of dental conditions and as an alternative to dental crowns. A porcelain veneer lasts for a long time but is temporary so it will need replacement later on.
This procedure may take two or more appointments. The dentist will take a mold of the teeth and, along with you, choose a color for the veneer.
The second appointment will involve cleaning the veneer with special liquids and cementing it to the front of the tooth. After the procedure, you will also receive further care instructions from your dentist.
